The hammer fell at $95,000 for this F355 convertible.
This was a stunning example of what we view as a very attractive modern spiritual successor to the 328/Mondial series. This particular car had a lot going for it—Classic Ferrari red on tan, 6-speed gearbox, ultra-low miles (under 3,200), and a $7,500 recent engine out service with all receipts. The car appeared to be a genuine no stories/no paintwork Ferrari that was clean as a whistle inside and out.
The only place to criticize this 355 would be the non-factory radio—always a non-negotiable demerit here at Turtle Garage—however, it’s an easy fix. At $95,000 there is not a lot of near-term upside in this car. However, the old adage, “buy the best and cry only once” applies here. If this buyer wanted the best 355 out there, they got it. If the goal is to own and enjoy this 355, the buyer made out well and the seller should be thrilled with the result.
From an appreciation standpoint, the 355 could continue to moderately rise in value if the entire Ferrari market stays firm. However, from a collectability standpoint too many 355’s were produced to make this car truly coveted by Ferrari fanatics. During its four-year production run, 11,273 355’s were produced, 3717 of those were convertibles and of those 2,664 were 6-speeds.
