Lucky Rabbit! $70,000 1985 Volkswagen Cabriolet

Bring a Trailer has changed the game when it comes to buying and selling classic cars online. The site has ushered in a new era and re-ignighted interest in the collector car market. In the virtual auction world, we are seeing more and more extraordinary outcomes. The wide audience of BaT has propelled ever rising prices for a wide variety of vehicles. Last week, we talked about the growing truck mania where delivery-mile F250’s and K5 Blazers now regularly sell for six-figures. But its not only trucks and supercars with low miles that are grabbing headlines—its lower end cars that have been saved and preserved new in the wrapper. Case in point—a delivery-mile 1985 VW Cabriolet recently made $70,000 on Bring a Trailer. This record shattering outcome was recently profiled on SCM’s Buy Sell Hold. Click the link below to watch as we discuss this stunning auction outcome.

What a great conversation on the Cabby frozen in time !!! Philip! I laughed so hard picturing your brothers reaction (knowing him well) seeing that cute sexy little red Cabriolet with white drop top . Like you guys stated in your conversation, that is the perfect “ Hot Chicks Car” it was then and still is now!! I can only imagine what your brothers expression was when he learned that it was his car !! The guy who would join your hockey games only to purposely slam check everyone into the boards and laugh in pure enjoyment!! I am going laugh about this now every time I see the Cabby! But I will say , every time I drove it I noticed chicks looking at me ! ( ha ha they were probably just looking at the car LOL ) Thanks for another great conversation … looking forward to the next one !
